The United States Post Office and Court House is a 3-story, 123,000 square foot structure. The building was built in the early 1930s. It was renovated in 1964 and again in 2003. The main floor is used primarily for the post office. The 2 upper floors contain a court room used by state courts. There are also offices on the upper floors. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It continues to operate as a branch post office, and the courthouse section now houses the Tennessee State Criminal Court of Appeals and the eastern division of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
